Accelerated Reader Program

The cost of an AR Test is $3.00.  Tests will be added to the CKCS computer network and remain the property of CKCS (Our license agreement does not allow us to distribute the program for use off campus.)  Please Note:  Participation is completely optional.  NO family is required to pay for AR tests.

How to Order

 Send $3.00 (cash or check made out to CKCS Library) along with the following information to the CKCS Librarian).

  1. Book Title
  2. Author's name (first and last)
  3. Name of student placing order
  4. If the test is not available, please specify if you would like the money returned or if you would like a different test ordered.  Please list the title and author of any alternate choices.

New AR tests will be ordered at the end of every month.

I am very grateful for the exemplary behavior and cooperation of students and the support from parents I have received in past years.  I am hoping this program will greatly benefit our students and provide them with increased opportunities for success with reading. 

CKCS Top Reader Club 2007-2008

 

In May, the top Accelerated Readers at CKS will be selected.  These individuals:

1.        receive an extra library card for the 2008-2009 school year

2.        do not pay fines or to replace lost cards during 2008-2009

3.        are invited to the CKCS Prize Store in May 2009

4.        are recognized at a school wide Awards Day in May 2009

 

To be a member of the club, you must earn the number of points listed below by  May 9, 2008

 

1st Grade –  50 points

2nd Grade – 75 points

3rd Grade – 100 points

4th Grade – 130 points

5th Grade – 175 points

6th Grade – 225 points

7th Grade – 275 points

8th Grade – 350 points

 

Top Reader Club is meant to reward individuals for independently read books at or above grade level.  Only books one grade level below (or higher) will be counted for Top Reader Points.  (Grade levels based on CKCS library leveling.)

 

Additional library cards will not be given out until August 2008, regardless of the date a student earns Top Reader points.

 

Outstanding Reader Club

 

Students in grades 1, 2 and 3 are also eligible to earn Outstanding Reader Status.  Outstanding Readers must earn the following points by May 9, 2008.

 

1st Grade  - 25 – 49 points

2nd Grade – 50 – 74 points

3rd Grade – 75 – 99 points

 

Outstanding Readers:

1.        are invited to a donut breakfast in May

2.        receive an award at our Awards Program in May

receive an extra library card for the 2008 – 2009 school year

 

Nine Weeks Testing Dates

Reading Requirements

Grades 3 – 8

 

1st Nine Weeks: Aug. 27 – Oct. 5

 

2nd Nine Weeks: Oct. 6 – Dec. 7

 

3rd Nine Weeks: Dec. 8 – March 7

 

4th Nine Weeks: March 8 – May 9

 

Top and Outstanding Reader Points due May 9, 2008.
