PTO MISSION:

The mission of the CKCS PTO executive committee is to promote a sense of community between the administration, faculty, staff, parents and students. As Servant-leaders and followers of Christ, we provide activities and funding which enhance the school’s academic, spiritual and social life.

As part of our mission, your donations have made it possible for the PTO to donate $11,000 for tuition assistance this year. Please join us as a community with your continued support and volunteerism to make our community shine!

  Personal Note from the President:
 
Welcome back to a brand new school year and one that promises to be a great one.  We have some new faces on the PTO for this upcoming year.  With new faces, come new ideas.  Please take time to look over the information on the PTO page.  You may be surprised at all the ways that you can become an involved parent.  If you have never volunteered, please consider getting involved.  As a new parent at Christ the King three years ago, I was encouraged by the principal at the time, Sister Maureen, to get involved.  She not only encouraged me but almost insisted.  It truly was a gift that she gave me in doing so (in her very quiet way).  I have met some amazing individuals and enjoyed giving back to a school that has given my children and family so much.  If ever you have a question or comment, please feel free to call me.  I look forward to working with all you to make this year, a great one!

September PTO Newsletter

 

PTO Meetings for 2010-2011

Please plan to attend the PTO meetings for upcoming school year.  There will be a meeting in the fall and another meeting in the spring.  Our first meeting will feature Father Ernest Hyndman, Jr. who is the pastor at Saint Agatha Catholic Church in Bay Minette.  He will speak on “What it Means to be a Catholic Parent.” Check back for the date which will be announced soon.

Special Events

The PTO hosts several special events throughout the year.  Back to School Night is scheduled for August 10 from 5:30-6:30 in the Gym.  Please take this opportunity to meet your new teacher, drop off books, pick up tuition booklets, order Yearbooks, pay for milk, sign up for After School Care, order PTO Hot Dog lunches, turn in Health Forms, and volunteer and sign up for PTO committees.  Another one of the upcoming special events is Grandparents Day scheduled for October 22 at 10 am.  Please make plans to attend.  Please check back for other special events to be announced.

Fundraising Events

Pumpkin Festival is our annual fall fundraising event.  It is a great family event to be enjoyed by all ages.  This year’s Pumpkin Festival is scheduled for October 24.  Please make plans to attend.

Our annual King’s Supper is scheduled for February 10th.  This is an all adult event that features great food, entertainment, and a silent auction.  It is a great opportunity to get together and fellowship with others while supporting the school at the same time.

 

Ongoing Events

PTO’s Hot Dog Lunch will be moving to the last Tuesday of the month.  Spirit Shirt Day will remain on the last Monday.  Please note that special lunch will be offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.

Volunteer Opportunities

There is a vast array of volunteer opportunities at Christ the King Catholic School.  Some of the committees that are coordinated by the PTO are as follows:  Brown Envelope, Little Field Day, Garden Committee, King’s Supper, Room Moms, Milk/Ice Cream, Playground Supervision, Pumpkin Festival, Traffic Duty, Uniform Closet and Sale, Welcome Wagon, and Yearbook.  Presently, we are looking for individuals to serve as Committee Chairpersons for Little Field Day, Playground/Traffic, and Yearbook.  Please consider sharing your special talents with your child’s school.  It truly is a rewarding experience.
