Chess Club is an extracurricular activity open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students.  Students from younger classes may participate with the permission of the moderator.

Chess Club meets on Thursday afternoons from September through the last tournament (usually early April) from 3:15 to 4:15.  A club ranking is maintained based on games played against other members during club meetings and on participation and performance at tournaments.

The Chess Club competes in the Baldwin County Scholastic League which competes on the first Thursday of the month from October through February.  Players are assigned to teams at the discretion of the moderator taking into account: standing in the club ranking, number of games played, and participation in club activities.

The Chess Club also participates in additional tournaments based on availability and the desire of participants.  These may include the annual Baldwin County Chess Championship, State Scholastic Chess Tournament, and even national level tournaments.

Some of the Club’s recent accomplishments include:
    - 2009 Mobile-Baldwin County Scholastic Chess League Middle School Champion
    - 2008 Mobile-Baldwin County Scholastic Chess League Middle School Champion.
